How we use progeCAD
progeCAD is our everyday workhorse for the majority of CAD projects. Most of the CAD agency work that we do is marine related (drawing up boat designs and modifications). Using progeCAD allows us to exchange files with with clients without conversion or compatibility problems. Many of our CAD clients have AutoCAD licneses of varying ages. Working natively in dwg format is a huge bonus.
We issue most of drawings in electronic format, so the ability to print high quality pdfs from progeCAD is great. Our drawings tend to be highly detailed, so use of layers, custom line types, scale layouts etc is essential. We don't make as much use of LISP routines and VBA scripts as some of our progeCAD customers, but these features save us time on specific jobs. The block library is one of our big time-savers.
Although progeCAD pro is a perfectly capable 3D program, we find Rhino and Alibre more straightforward to use for full 3D work.
